Christmas and holiday lights brighten up the season in Reno and Sparks. From homes to public areas in our city you are bound to find some wonderful displays.
One of my family’s favorite traditions is to load up in the car and take a drive to explore some colorful Christmas lights in the Reno area. We have old family favorites, and every year we also hope to discover some "new favorites" as well!
Here Is Our Top 10 List Of Christmas Lights and Displays in Reno Sparks For 2016!
10) Sparks Community Celebrations- Victorian Avenue is quickly becoming a Christmas destination. This is worth a visit for the huge lighted Christmas tree and holiday décor. Sparks has been advertising their tall white fir as the largest in Nevada at 105 feet!
9) Reno’s Christmas Tree Display- Every year in Reno you can find a beautiful Christmas display in the downtown area. Traditionally it is located in the plaza located at the corner of 1st and Virginia Street (between the Truckee River and City Hall)
8) State Christmas Tree at the Capitol- On the grounds of Nevada’s state capitol you will find a wonderful display featuring a huge tree and other Christmas décor.
7) Candy Cane Lane- If you are in Carson City viewing #8, why not head over to the Carson Valley Inn for their drive-thru Christmas light display? Candy Cane Lane annually features thousands of lights, Christmas scenes, and holiday images. Carson Valley Inn is located on US 395 in Minden, NV.
6) Singing Santa in Sparks- If you find yourself in East Sparks this home is worth a visit. Santa and a Snowman jam to some sweet Christmas tubes with even songs by Rihanna, Owl City, Toby Mac, and Justin Bieber… It is located at 4435 Dancing Moon Court in Sparks (just off of Los Altos Parkway.
5) 34th Annual Hidden Valley Parade of Lights- A Reno Christmas light tradition, there are always wonderful Christmas displays to be found in Hidden Valley. As a yearly homeowner’s association contest, the competition is always fierce and the lights are plentiful. Take McCarran Boulevard to Pembroke Drive, then head east into Hidden Valley.
4) 2380 Solitude Drive, Reno- Honored in 2014 as one of USA TODAY’s “Best Private Holiday Lights”. This home often features 30,000+ lights synchronized to classics like “Carol of the Bells” and “March of the Toreadors”. Solitude Drive is located in south Reno off of Mt. Rose Highway.
3) 290 Omni Drive, Spanish Springs, 89441- This is one of my family’s favorites, and quite possibly one of the best kept secrets in Reno-Sparks! I have never seen this home mentioned in local blogs but it is worth the drive! This home is an incredible synchronized display featuring “Trans-Siberian” orchestra hits, classic Christmas tunes if you stick around for a while, even some “Dub-Step” Christmas mixes.
2) Lights of Tanea- Also known as the “Biggest Little Christmas Light Show in Reno”, this Tanea Drive neighborhood has been a hit for many years. Lights of Tanea runs November 25 through December 25, 2016. It is located at 16180 Tanea Drive in southwest Reno.
1) LightShowBro in Sparks- Taking my family’s #1 Christmas Award this year is “LightShowBro”! This unique display features thousands of lights perfectly synchronized to an incredible custom music mix featuring Little John, DJ Logic, and even Meghan Trainor. It might not have largest number of lights in town, but the creativity and fun infused in this Christmas display will bring some joy into your holiday tradition! Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed! The home is located at 5555 Junction Peak Drive, Sparks, 89436. Our family tip… Approach the home from Badger Peak Drive, and then turn east on Junction Peak (this will give you the best view of the show ! Please note: The 13 minute show runs daily, every half hour, starting at 5:00pm with the last show running at 9:30pm. See some samples of Junction Peak's show here.
