The Resort At Red Hawk
At the heart of Wingfield Springs is the Resort at Red Hawk. The Resort has two championship golf courses. The public Lakes Course, (one of our favorites) incorporates the natural wetlands and lakes, has over 100 bunkers. This course was designed by architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr.. Players of all skill levels can find the right amount of difficulty on this course. This course has been frequently called the "Best Golf Course in Reno.".
The Hills Course, was originally a private course created by golf champion Hale Irwin. The Hills Course was originally a private course for members only, but as times became tough during the housing crisis of 2007-2012, the course was opened for public play. One of our persoanl favorites, it is known for its impeccable condition, excellent facilities, and gracious staff. The Hills course is set on the hillside and offers dramatic valley views, and large changes in elevation in comparison to the flat Lakes course. A little known secret in the Sparks area is that Red Hawk Resort even offers locals a practice facility with full driving range, practice greens, and even a 18-hole putting course.
In an effort to earn business from Wingfield Springs residents, David's Grill and Restaurant was created. David's offers spectacular views of the 18th green at the Lakes Course. According to their website, David's Grill serves "fresh, authentic, homemade foods and exceptional service in a warm, fun and friendly neighborhood environment".
LOCAL SECRET- A little known fact about the Resort At Red Hawk is that they offer a few hotel style rooms for overnight guests. Red Hawk has a limited numbers of suites, and guests also may enjoy unlimited access to the Swim and Fitness Center. More information on Red Hawk's hotel rooms can be found here. The Center includes a variety of exercise equipment including weight training machines, free weights, and fitness machines. Two fitness studios house a large number of classes. Swimmers can experience the three-lane outdoor lap pool and children make use of the shallow splash pool. Towel service adds convenience, while the outdoor spa and pavilion add luxury.
